BerriQi® is a freeze-dried powder made from boysenberries and apples.

Yes, BerriQi is safe as it is made from natural fruits—boysenberries and apples. It is not an extract and contains all the natural constituents of the fruit in their natural ratios. However, if your child has a berry or apple allergy, they should not consume it.

No, there are no known side effects unless your child is allergic to boysenberries or apples.

Not really, it is safe for all age group. However, to prevent any choking hazard we recommend not using the chewable below 5 years.

Your child should take two chewable tablets daily and complete a symptom questionnaire every day for 14 days.

No, all personal information collected will remain confidential. Any reports generated will not include information that identifies your child.

Yes, participants can withdraw from the study at any time.

Yes, the study has been approved by the Health and Disability Ethics Committees (HDEC).

No, the treatment is randomly assigned by a computer system. Your child may receive either the active product or a placebo, and neither you nor the researcher will know which one.

The placebo used in the trial is a blend of heat-treated boysenberries (no anthocyanin) and apple. So, despite the absence of anthocyanins the placebo still contains all of the constituents of boysenberries and apples.

Boysenberries contain specific anthocyanin that supports a type of immune cell to switch from fight mode (during an active infection) into clean-up mode and further into recovery mode. This process may aid in faster recovery after a respiratory infection. However, its effects in children have not yet been studied, and this research aims to explore that.

Yes, BerriQi can be given to children with existing respiratory condition (like asthma or cystic fibrosis) as it may help mitigate their symptoms. However, the study is not designed to evaluate the difference in symptoms between healthy or individuals with respiratory conditions.

BerriQi will come as chewable tablet.

Two chewable tablets to be taken orally each morning before or with breakfast.
